American Jordan Spieth has confirmed he will miss the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour to play in the returning Singapore Open.
Spieth has enjoyed a superb 2015 campaign after he won the US Masters and US Open before going on to claim the lucrative FedEx Cup.
However, the 22-year-old did not get off to the best start when he missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego in January.
He has now decided to miss the 2016 edition of the event to focus on the 50th Singapore Open, which will be played on the Sentosa Golf Club’s demanding Serapong Course from January 28-31.
“Playing in the SMBC Singapore Open is something I’m really looking forward to,” he said. “I’m very fortunate to play golf around the world and can’t wait to visit Singapore for the first time.”
