Martin Kaymer is hoping to get back to winning ways at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth later this month.

The European Tour event runs from May 26-29 and there is a high-class field ready to take to the course in Surrey, with Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell, Danny Willett, Thomas Bjorn, Luke Donald, Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Lee Westwood all confirmed.

Kaymer, who is a two-time major champion, has not tasted success since winning the 2014 US Open and his results will need to improve in order to gain an automatic spot in Europe’s Ryder Cup team this year.

The German has missed the cut three times from his previous eight outings but enjoyed a confidence-boosting performance at the recent Open de Espana, finishing tied sixth.

He will be making his 10th appearance in the BMW PGA event and, despite never really being in contention to win the title, is expecting a strong challenge this time round.

“I have a decent record at Wentworth but I?ve not yet been truly in contention to win there, so it would be nice to change that this year,” he said.

“My game is feeling good and a victory would be a great way to launch into what is going to be an extremely busy spell through the summer and autumn.”

South Korea’s An Byeong-hun won the tournament last year, finishing six strokes ahead of Thongchai Jaidee and Miguel Angel Jimenez, while former world number one Rory McIlroy triumphed in 2014.
