Woods has Ryder Cup picks in mind

US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III admits Tiger Woods has already given his thoughts about who should make the 12-man team.

Woods will be an assistant to the 52-year-old at Hazeltine for the biennial clash with Europe, which gets under way at the end of September.

Injury prevented the 14-time major winner from playing this season and making yet another appearance in the prestigious event, but he appears committed to helping the Americans win the trophy for the first time since 2008.

The top eight players in the FedEx Cup rankings following The Barclays tournament will qualify automatically for the team, with Love then making three picks on September 11, and a fourth and final pick on September 25.

The veteran will have his own ideas as to who should be in his dozen to face Darren Clarke’s men, but Woods has already given his views on the make up of the team.

“He has already picked his four,” Love told Sky Sports. “I can’t tell you who they are, but he knows who he wants to watch and who he wants to manage and who he?ll get along with.”

Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Jimmy Walker, Brooks Koepka, Zach Johnson, JB Holmes and Brandt Snedeker currently occupy the automatic spots with Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Matt Kuchar and Rickie Fowler the next four in line.
