Lee Westwood says he is determined to keep playing well to push for an automatic Ryder Cup place for the trip to Hazeltine next month.
The Englishman is widely being tipped to be one of the Darren Clarke’s picks for the European team, given his form this year and his wealth of experience in Ryder Cup competitions.
However Westwood is not willing to take anything for granted and says he will be looking to impress when he takes part in the Czech Masters this week in Prague.
He said: “I’ve had lots of conversations with Darren and he said at the start of the year, ‘Show me some form’.
“I’ve played pretty well over the year. Second in the Masters, a few other top tens, played well in the majors, played pretty good at the US Open, so I just want to try and keep playing well and be in form should I get picked for the Ryder Cup.”
At present Westwood sits just outside the nine automatic places for the European team but a win in Prague this week would see him climb the ranks ahead of the clash with the USA in Minnesota.
