Jim Furyk confirms Koepka-Johnson spat

US Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk has confirmed there was an altercation between Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka after the event.

Europe regained the trophy with an emphatic 17.5 – 10.5 victory at Le Golf National and cracks in the American team – that it seemed had disappeared since their 2016 Hazeltine triumph – have reopened.

Tiger Woods admitted he was fatigued, while Patrick Reed confessed Jordan Spieth did not want to play with him and it was also reported that the team’s two big-hitters needed to be separated at the after-match festivities.

Koepka denied the story, suggesting he had no idea where it came from, but now Furyk has opened up on proceedings to potentially cause even more embarrassment.

It seems the argument was minor but shows Koepka in a bad light as he was clearly lying to the press.

“Whatever altercation started, or what happened, it was very brief,” Furyk told the Golf Channel. “It was very short. Neither one of them really took anything out of it.

“They’re like brothers. Brothers may argue. Brothers get into it. But they’re as close as they’ve ever been and it really had no effect on either one of them.”
