Grace confident of Major success

South African Branden Grace admits he is more relaxed heading into the Major tournaments because he feels he belongs at the top.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed arguably the best season of his career so far, with impressive performances on both the European and PGA Tour lifting him up the world rankings.

The Pretoria-born ace clinched the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters back in January before winning the Sunshine Tour’s Dimension Data Pro-Am a month later.

It is his displays in the Majors that have been a particular highlight, with Grace’s record in the ‘big four’ events this season being a share of fourth in the US Open, joint-20th at the Open and, most recently, a third-place finish in the US PGA Championship, while he failed to make the weekend at the Masters.

The latest outing has also lifted the six-time European Tour winner to 20th in the world rankings, just seven places behind South Africa’s top-ranked player Louis Oosthuizen.

Grace is looking forward to the next Major, which is the 2016 Masters at August National and is confident he can put together a successful challenge for a maiden win.

“I’m getting closer in the majors, which I want to do,” he told the Sunshine Tour’s official website. “I feel that the game is keeping up and the standard of golf that I’m playing is showing. And I don’t have to step down for these guys.”
