World number one Jason Day has revealed he is currently considering whether to play at the 2016 Olympics in Rio this summer.
The Australian is concerned over the risk of contracting the Zika virus which has links to brain defects in newborn babies.
The World Health Organization insists there is a “very low risk” of the Zika virus spreading globally, but a number of big names have already withdrawn.
Rory McIlroy confirmed on Wednesday that he will not be playing at the showpiece event in Brazil over fears of the mosquito-borne virus.
However, Day has yet to make a final decision and insists he will speak with his family before making a statement on his position.
“Family for me is priority number one,” he said. “I’ve got to make sure they’re happy, then probably I’ll make the decision.”
