Padraig Harrington claims he would relish the chance to captain Europe at the 2020 Ryder Cup.
Thomas Bjorn has been given the honour of leading Europe for this year’s tournament but Harrington is eager to skipper the team for the next instalment of the event in 2020 at Whistling Straits, Wisconsin.
The 46-year-old was a vice captain in 2014 and 2016 and has featured six times as a player but feels 2020 would be the perfect time to take on the full captaincy.
“It would be good timing for me, 2020 for sure, in terms of where I will be in my career,” said the Irishman.
“By then, I will probably be back playing in Europe.”
