American Jim Furyk has had to withdraw from this week’s season-ending Tour Championship due to an injury to his left wrist.
The 45-year-old has a bone contusion in his left wrist and will now take a few weeks break before returning to competitive action.
Furyk, who is ranked seventh in the world, is hoping to try and play in next month’s Presidents Cup in South Korea.
He had to withdraw from last week’s BMW Championship due to the same injury but the Pennsylvania-born star is concentrating on his fitness for now.
“While I am disappointed to miss this week’s event in Atlanta, I am now placing all my efforts on being healthy and ready to play in the Presidents Cup,” he said.
“(U.S. Captain) Jay Haas will be made aware of my progress in the coming days, as we see how the injury responds to the treatment.”
