Team USA captain Davis Love has admitted that Tiger Woods has offered to be a vice-captain for next year’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.
Woods is hoping to make the team for the 2016 tournament but will have his work cut out after going under the knife once again.
The former world number one confirmed earlier this month he would have more back surgery before returning to the circuit in 2016.
The 39-year-old has plenty of experience in the event after being named in the USA team on seven occasions.
He has lost 17 matches in the tournament but Love admits the 14-time major winner is willing to help in any way alongside other experienced pros.
“Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, they have all said ‘we will do whatever it takes to help you’, and we have them on the list,” he said.
“They are obviously guys that could be future captains, guys that we want around the team.
“We are hoping that all four of them are playing, we need their veteran leadership, but, if not, they have said ‘look, I will do whatever it takes’.”
