Italian Edoardo Molinari has confirmed he will miss the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship due to personal reasons.
After pulling out, the 34-year-old will now have to return to the European Tour qualifying school for the first time since 2008.
Molinari, who has enjoyed plenty of success playing with brother Francesco in the Ryder Cup, confirmed his withdrawal via his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.
“Unfortunately I had to pull out from @DunhillLinks and the remaining events for personal reasons,” he tweeted. “My next tournament will now be Q-School.”
He is now languishing in 279th in the world and has missed 10 out of 22 cuts so far this season.
