Martin Kaymer has admitted he will need to use a patient approach if he is to go far at the Portugal Masters this week.
The German is determined to do well when he returns to play at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course for the sixth time.
He finished in a tie for seventh back in 2007 but the 30-year-old is now hoping to produce a better result this time around.
Since his last appearance, he has won two Major championships and became the world number one and Kaymer admits a steady approach will be needed this weekend.
“I think it was a few years back, I shot a very low one here,” he told the European Tour official website.
“So I enjoy that golf course. It’s one of those where when you hit the fairway, you have a lot of chances so you need to be very patient.
“Once you hit it in the rough, it can get very tricky but you need to take advantage of the par fives because if you hit the fairways there then you have only a long iron into the green – or on the fifth hole you have a wood into the green – but the rest is very playable.”
