Graeme McDowell is feeling positive for 2016 and is confident of putting together some good performances.
It has been a year to forget for the Northern Irishman, who has not won since retaining the 2014 Alstom Open de France, and a number of disappointing results have seen the 36-year-old slip down the rankings.
McDowell was world number 15 almost 12 months ago but failures on both Tours have dropped the 2010 US Open champion to 82nd in the standings.
He missed the cut four times from his final six appearances on the American circuit in the previous campaign and the best result on the European side was a tie for ninth in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
McDowell’s displays in the major championships have done little to inspire and a 49th-place finish in The Open was the highest position he achieved in the big four events.
An improvement will be needed for the new season but the two-time PGA Tour winner is confident he has enough ability to turn things around.
“It’s been building really sort of since the beginning of August,” he said. “I took some time off after the PGA Championship and just cleared my head a little bit, and I’ve really been enjoying this run of golf I’m on.
“I’m really happy the progress I’ve been making. It’s been a tough year, but looking to finish strong and moving to 2016 with some good vibes.”
