Lucas Bjerregaard’s second round of 66 has put him in pole position at the BMW Masters in Shanghai.
The Dane managed to cope with the conditions in China to leapfrog the previous overnight leader Sergio Garcia, who now sits joint second with Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee three shots behind.
Bjerregard, who sits on 12-under par was pleased with his performance on Friday and admitted the tricky conditions in Shanghai did play their part.
He said: “It was a great round and obviously finished off with some good birdies coming in.
“Nothing much really happened on the first nine, I just played really solid. But I thought it was a good bit tougher than [Thursday] with the wind up. Some of the holes were playing really long.”
Meanwhile, on eight-under, English duo Ian Poulter and Paul Casey are firmly in contention for the title at the halfway stage.
