Jamie Donaldson believes his three-shot win at the Thailand Golf Championship on Sunday was one of his best victories.
The 40-year-old Welshman went into the final round at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok trailing Frenchman Clement Sordet following a disappointing 71 on Saturday.
But Donaldson turned things around on Sunday with nine birdies in his final round of 65, which also included two bogeys, to claim his first title of 2015 and left playing partners Sordet and Lee Westwood having to settle for joint second spot.
“This is certainly one of my best victories. There are a lot of good players playing in the tournament this week. The field is very strong and to beat these guys is great,” said Donaldson afterwards.
Donaldson moves back into the top 50 in the world rankings, along with Westwood, while both have also qualified for the Open and Masters next year on the back of their display at the Asian Tour event.
Sordet has also qualified for the Open, along with Thailand’s 16-year-old rising star Phachara Khongwatmai, who finished sixth.
