Paul Dunne insists there is no extra pressure on him to succeed after some positive displays last year.
The Irishman broke on to the scene at the 2015 Open Championship when the 23-year-old became the first amateur since 1927 to lead the major tournament after 54 holes.
He also set a competition record for the lowest score after three rounds by a non-professional and, despite falling away on the final day, his talent was clear for everyone to see.
The Dublin-born star turned pro later that year and recently made his debut appearance on the PGA Tour in the Farmers Insurance Open in California.
Dunne had been in contention going into the last 18 holes but the horrific playing conditions, which forced the tournament to be completed on Monday, wrecked his chances.
He eventually finished in a tie for 13th after ending up on level-par, just six shots adrift of American winner Brandt Snedeker who produced a sensational final round.
Dunne has a solid platform to build on although he is not getting ahead of himself as preparations continue for future competitions.
“I won’t think that I have to win or top 10,” he said. “I’ll just play and see where it leaves me.”
