The Spanish Open will be held at Valderrama for the first time in April, the European Tour has announced.
The 1997 Ryder Cup venue in Sotogrande, southern Spain will be the setting for the first tournament of the European season between April 14–17, a week after the US Masters at Augusta.
The Sergio Garcia Foundation has also been named as the official host of the Spanish Open, which has prize money of 2million euros.
Garcia said: “This is a whole new way of working together with the European Tour and I am very proud to be a part of it.
“I personally have great memories of the golf course, having won the Andalucia Valderrama Masters there in 2011 and I am sure that all the players who tee up in April will enjoy testing their game against the fantastic layout.”
