Jordan Spieth is hopeful that he can win this week’s PGA Fort Worth Invitational to end a frustrating 10-month run without a title.
The 24-year-old Texan will look to continue his good form on home soil at Colonial Country Club, where his 2016 success was sandwiched between top-two-finishes in 2015 and last year respectively.
Spieth has not won since last July’s Open Championship and, while he finished in a respectable third place at last month’s Masters at Augusta National, he followed that up with a 21st place finish at the Byron Nelson and a 41st at the Players Championship.
The aim is to try and get back to winning ways in Fort Worth and also make some improvements to certain areas of his game with one eye on next month’s US Open and his Open defence at Carnoustie in July.
“I don’t struggle reading the greens at Colonial,” Spieth said.
“I’m waking up excited about anything that’s off in my game. I’m enjoying working at it.
“I’m trying to find new and better ways to be a better player and if the results come right away great and if it takes a little while I’m OK with that at this point. I’m taking a more patient approach to peaks and valleys throughout my career.”
